Marriott International has said it will more than triple its holdings in India by 2010.
Joining nine previously announced hotels, six more are due to open in 2009, while the Renaissance Mumbai Hotel is undergoing a 302-room expansion.
Marriott managing director of international lodging, Ed Fuller, says the company expects to announce additional hotels for India in the near future.
“We are confident that the portfolio that we, along with our local investors and partners, are building hotels that will be appreciated for their sophisticated amenities as well as for providing good value,” he says.
Marriot began operation in India in 1999 and the expansion will see their portfolio grow to 21 properties.
