One of Edinburgh’s top hotels is to receive a £13m makeover, which will generate £14m a year for the city’s economy and create 40 jobs.
Hand Picked Hotels, parent company of Norton House Hotel and Spa in Edinburgh, announced the makeover which will include a spa resort, upgraded conference facilities and the addition of 38 rooms, taking the total number to 83.
Norton House general manager Ronnie MacKay says the expansion will enable the company to tap into the growing popularity of Edinburgh as a conference venue.
“The expansion of Norton House Hotel and Spa will enable us to take advantage of increasing demand and ensure that Edinburgh is able to provide greater choice than its competitors,” he says.
The extra rooms will be completed in September this year, while the spa and conference facilities are expected to open in December.
Hand Picked Hotels owns 14 luxury country house hotels across the UK and Jersey.
It has also recently completed a £10m upgrade of Rookery Hall Hotel and Spa in Cheshire.
