Intercontinental Hotels is planning to introduce two US hotel brands to the UK market.
Staybridge, designed for contract workers staying for up to six months, featuring individual apartments with communal kitchens, is the focus of the brand extension, UK newspaper The Guardian reports.
Up to 25 Staybridges could be established in the UK over the next couple of years, at a cost of £10m each.
Building costs are expected to be covered by hotel owners – such as property companies and investment funds – with Intercontinental operating the businesses.
The first UK Staybridge is expected to open in Liverpool early next year.
Intercontinental is also considering building a UK version of its Hotel Indigo brand, slated as a designer hotel at mid-market prices.
