The HBOS banking group – otherwise known as the Royal Bank of Scotland – is earmarked to buy one of the UK’s historic hotels; the Caledonian Hotel in Edinburgh.

Currently owned by Hilton Hotels Corporation, it is expected to fetch £50m with the purchaser expected to invest up to £15m upgrading facilities, according to reports in Time.

Meanwhile, the famous Park Lane Hilton in the UK will unveil a new concept for its brasserie launched in September.

The hotelier says the restaurant, previously called the Park Brasserie, will become the Podium following its £500,000 refurbishment and will offer a modern approach to food and restaurant design.
