A British accommodation reservation website has paired with a leading environmental agency to help repair the damage down to the environment by traveller.

All-rooms.com will donate £2 per reservation for 4,500 of its listed properties to Climate Care to offset carbon emissions.

The money will be used to fund projects such as providing poor Mexican communities with fuel-efficient cookers, which will save 3t of carbon per stove each year, and recreating the rain forests of Uganda, which will save 400 tonnes of CO2 per hectare a year.

All-rooms.com founder Simon Rudd says three-quarters of travellers are concerned about the impact of their journey on the environment.

“We are investing money to fund sustainable energy and forest restoration projects around the world that help to reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere,” Rudd says.

“While the only real way to prevent damage to the climate is to limit consumption of fossil fuels, where this is not possible, the best current solution – however imperfect – is carbon offsetting.”
