Stevan Porter, former president of the Americas region of InterContinental Hotels Group, has died at 53.
Porter joined InterContinental Hotels Group in 2001 and became president for the Americas region, which accounts for 70% of the company revenue, in 2002.
InterContinental Hotels Group owns the Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo and InterContinental Hotel brands.
Porter stepped down from the post in mid-July 2008 after 32 years of service in the hospitality industry.
The cause of death has yet to be released.
