New York’s iconic Plaza Hotel has reopened following a three-year, US$400m renovation.

The hotel, owned by Elad Properties, closed in 2005 for the renovation, which included the conversion of hotel rooms into apartments and the restoration of a glass ceiling in the Palm Court Dining Room.

The hotel, used in several movies including North by Northwest and Home Alone 2, now features 282 guest rooms, down from 805, and 181 apartments.

Rates at the 101-year-old hotel start at US$1,000 per night.

The Plaza will stage its grand opening on 10 May.
