The majority of British travellers are choosing to book their hotel accommodation online, a survey shows.

According to the BDRC British Hotel Guest Survey, 70 percent of business travellers and 64 percent of leisure travellers make their reservations on the internet.

Short breaks have increased in popularity over the past three years with an increase of five million room nights to 35 million in 2007, while long stays have declined – from 24 million room nights in 2004 to 15 million in 2007.

Total British domestic demand has remained static at around 109 million nights.
