Hotel and leisure group Whitbread has announced the purchase of three Real Hotel Group properties in London.
The £18.5m purchase will see the properties in Westminster, Kensington and the City undergo a £12.5m refurbishment before reopening as Premier Inns.
Whitbread also announced plans to build thee new hotels in Ealing, Waterloo and the City at a cost of £70m.
The expansion will add 1,200 rooms to its London portfolio, taking the total to 6,500.
Including the recent additions, Whitbread will operate 50 hotels across the capital, and plans to be the largest hotel chain in London, operating 8,500 rooms by the 2012 Olympics.
