Intercontinental Hotels Groups has opened its first limited-service hotel in South Africa.

The 175-room $16.2m Holiday Inn Express in Cape Town is the first of 25 properties the IHG will develop across the country in partnership with ISO Leisure.

IHG Middle East and Africa chief operating officer John Bamsey says it is expected three more properties will open in the country in the next two years – two Holiday Inn Express hotels and one Holiday Inn.

“Adding these properties to our estate will address the increased demand for internationally branded, high-quality accommodation and support the growth of business and leisure travel to South Africa,” he says.
