Starwood Hotels & Resorts plans to open 80 to 100 mostly high-end hotels this year, with 70% located in the Asia Pacific region.
More than 60% are expected to cater to Starwood’s upper upscale and luxury brands.
Starwood also said it will double its portfolio in China as it plans to open 100 hotels within the next three years.
Starwood is expected to open 30 hotels, including the first hotels of The Luxury Collection and W brands, in mainland China this year.
Sheraton brands such as St Regis, Westin, Le Meridien and Four Points will make up half the year’s total openings in China.
In India, where the group has already opened 25 hotels, Starwood plans to increase its portfolio by 60% within the next three years.
Starwood’s Westin brand will open two new hotels this year, and by the end of this year three Aloft brands will be launched.
Starwood will launch its W brand in London, UK, this year as part of its strategy to enter new markets.
The group will also add two new Sheraton hotels in New York City, USA, and will include both new-build and conversion properties.
