As of 14 February 2010, Hilton Worldwide has registered 126,000 downloads on its seven chain-specific iPhone apps, which were launched last November.
The record number of downloads garnered the company the top slot among hotel chains offering customer services through enhanced mobile service applications.
Hilton Global Online Services senior vice president Chuck Sullivan said the company can trace seven digits a month in revenue directly to mobile, and each month, the amount keeps increasing by 150% on a year-over-year basis.
The hotel’s iPhone apps features, such as ordering room service before arrival, are some of the popular downloaded items and also provide good revenue, according to content.usatoday.com.
Sullivan credits the speedy ramp-up in Hilton’s mobile usage to the apps as well as 3G technology.
Currently Hilton is working on new features for its existing apps and is also converting them into Android-friendly versions in the future.
Using the iPhones apps, Hilton’s customers are able to change reservation dates and check their Hilton Honors balances and apply them to future hotel stays.
