Sheraton Hotels & Resorts has unveiled its expansion plans to build 50 new hotels over the next three years in 15 countries including the US, Colombia, India, Russia, Slovakia, Taiwan and Vietnam.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts is investing $4bn in North America and $6bn globally for the revitalisation of its Sheraton brand, which will add over 20,000 rooms.
In 2010 Sheraton will add 28 properties in China including the Sheraton Shanghai Hong Kou Hotel, Sheraton Qingdao and Sheraton Huadu Resort, bringing its total count to 50 hotels.
The company said it will also add ten new resorts in New York City, Brooklyn and Manhattan, USA, and will also open several new convention hotels.
Starwood Global Development president Simon Turner said the group expects to see a number of high quality conversion opportunities to be realised in North America and Europe.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide is a hotel and leisure company with more than 982 properties. Its Sheraton brand owns 400 hotels globally.
