Unique Group, owner of Westin Dhaka, has unveiled plans to open three five-star hotels in Bangladesh with an investment of BDT2,000 crore ($290m).
Unique Group will sign a management agreement with Starwood Hotels, which will manage the three hotels.
The expansion is aimed at capturing the nation’s hospitality business, which is growing at a rate of 15% annually, according to thedailystar.net.
Two five-star hotels, Le Méridien in Banani and The Westin Dhaka 2 in Gulshan, will be constructed in Dhaka, while a third five-star Westin hotel will open in Chittagong.
Construction will be complete by the end of 2012 and the hotel will be operational by 2013.
Starwood Hotels is the owner of luxury hotels with global brands such as Westin, Sheraton and Le Méridien.
