Starwood Unveils 1,000th Hotel in China

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has opened its 1,000th hotel, the Sheraton Qiandao Lake Resort in China. The 250-room lake resort features 23 suites and is equipped with the brand's signature amenities, the company said. Starwood expects to open between 80 and 100

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has opened its 1,000th hotel, the Sheraton Qiandao Lake Resort in China.

The 250-room lake resort features 23 suites and is equipped with the brand’s signature amenities, the company said.

Starwood expects to open between 80 and 100 new hotels in 2010, with 70% based outside the USA, focusing on the Asia Pacific market.

China is set to see a further 20 Starwood hotels this year with the hotel chain aiming for 100 hotels in the country by 2012.

India can also expect a glut of new Starwoods hotels with a 60% increase in its portfolio expected by the end of 2012.
