A new luxury hotel, Afrin Prestige Hotel, has been unveiled in Maputo, Mozambique.

The $22m, five-star hotel is owned by the Spanish Hotusa Group and features 116 rooms, conference facilities, restaurants, a swimming pool and a sauna.

The hotel was opened by Mozambique President Armando Guebuza who said tourism was essential for the future of the country.

President Guebuza said it was hoped there would be some tourism spin-off because of the World Cup in South Africa this summer.
