The Nigeria Football Federation has been asked to pay a fine of $125,000 over the last-minute cancellation of its booking at the Hampshire Hotel in Durban, South Africa.

A delegation from Nigeria cited the three-star hotel as noisy, mosquito-infested and unsafe, according to the Associated Press.

The team passed on the hotel in favour of the Protea Hotel Waterfront in Richards Bay, which will be the team’s base camp at the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

Nigeria had earlier agreed to stay at the Hampshire before new coach Lars Lagerback took over from Shaibu Amodu.
