The Irish Hotels Federation (IHF) said the hotel industry is expected to lose more than €20m ($25.45m) as a result of the volcanic ash crisis.

The sector is struggling with a 16% decline in international visitors, huge levels of bed overcapacity and is seeking compensation from the Government.

The continuing uncertainty about travel into the country may incur more losses to the sector due to mounting cancellations and delayed visits, according to examiner.ie.
