Dubai hotels recorded an 11.4% growth increase with almost 470 hotel projects in the pipeline across the Gulf region despite the global recession.

Dubai will add between 16,000 and 20,000 hotel rooms by the end of the year, which will contribute to higher occupancy levels to satisfy future demand.

The annual cash expenditure on under-construction hotel projects will cross $1.17bn this year, according to a study by Dubai-based firm Proleads.

Data showed revenue from each room in the Middle East was estimated at $131.42 for February 2010, which is higher than $72.05 per room in Europe and $79.65 in Asia Pacific.
