Bangladesh is to open its first eco-friendly five-star hotel, Sea Pearl Beach and Spa, in Cox’s Bazar in 2012.

The timesharing concept hotel worth BDT1.43bn ($20m) is located on seven acres at Inani and is affiliated with the Miami-based Interval International.

The hotel received BDT850m ($11m) from Prime Bank while the rest came from owner Shamim Enterprise.

The solar-powered hotel aims to provide a pollution-free environment for guests and its waste and water will be recycled.

Sea Pearl consists of 200 rooms for residential accommodation, including 150 timeshare rooms and suites.

The hotel’s features include a spa, bar, swimming pool, restaurant, coffee shop, lobby and a gymnasium, according to thedailystar.net.
