The hotel spent AED1.25m ($340,330) incorporating several sustainable initiatives, which will aid in reducing its carbon emissions.

The 276-room property is the first five-star hotel to receive the green accreditation, according to albawaba.com.

Sustainability initiatives incorporated include energy and resource saving, use of biodegradable chemicals and recycling initiatives and the replacement of old equipment.
