US-based real estate development firms American Life and Williams/Dame & Associates have announced a new $172m hotel project in Los Angeles, US.
The project consists of a 23-storey building housing Marriott International’s 174-room Courtyard by Marriott and a 218-room Residence Inn by Marriott including 11,754ft² of meeting facilities and 5,100ft² of restaurant space.
Construction of the two Marriott properties is expected to begin in spring 2012, with opening scheduled for summer 2014.
The hotels represent the first dual construction of a Residence Inn and Courtyard by Marriott on the West Coast and will complement the J W Marriott Los Angeles, L A LIVE and The Ritz-Carlton hotel across the street.
American Life and Williams/Dame will head the project partnership.
Homer Williams of Williams/Dame & Associates said the project is expected to draw new convention business to downtown Los Angeles and fuel new economic activity.
"The influx of hotel guests will contribute over $89m annually in off-site taxable spending throughout the area," Williams said.
SODO Builders will build the project, while the architecture will be handled by Portland’s GBD Architects and interior design by Degen & Degen in the US.
