Homewood Suites by Hilton and Hampton Hotels, a part of Hilton Worldwide, have partnered with SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts to develop a $62m dual-branded hotel project in downtown Halifax, Canada.
The hotels, which are expected to open in May 2014, will be housed within two 13-storey towers, and the redevelopment will have a combined 316 rooms, a shared conference centre, a fitness centre, retail space and parking.
SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts president and CEO Steve Giblin said the partnership with Hilton Worldwide will contribute to the vibrancy of downtown Halifax.
"By building the Hampton Inn & Suites and Homewood Suites side by side, we will better accommodate a wide range of lodging needs for both the business and leisure travellers visiting Halifax," Giblin added.
The Homewood Suites/Hampton Inn & Suites Downtown Halifax hotel represents the seventh Homewood Suites property in development in Canada, which is expected to address the growing demand in the market and to continue both brands’ expansion efforts in the region.
At present, Hampton Hotels has 19 projects under development in the Canada market. Canadian hotel management company SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts manages over 20 hotels and resorts across Canada.
The Homewood Suites by Hilton brand has nearly 300 hotels open and about 110 in the development pipeline, and will offer facilities including an on-site suite shop convenience store, grocery shopping services, business centre and laundry services.
