InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is set to open two new Holiday Inn Express hotels in Managua, Nicaragua and Tegucigalpa, Honduras in 2014.
The new properties, Holiday Inn Express Hotel Managua and Holiday Inn Express Hotel Tegucigalpa, will be managed by Latin American Hospitality Management, a subsidiary of Grupo AGRISAL, and will be franchised by an affiliate of IHG.
Located in the Nicaragua’s capital district with shops, corporate buildings and restaurants in the vicinity, the seven-storey Holiday Inn Express Hotel Managua will feature 110 rooms and other amenities such as fitness centre, outdoor swimming pool and private parking area.
The seven-storey 110 room Holiday Inn Express Hotel Tegucigalpa is situated near the Presidential Palace in the Honduras’ capital city and shares similar characteristics as that of Managua hotel.
The two new hotels will expand the IHG’s current portfolio of 18 Holiday Inn Express hotels and 24 Holiday Inn hotels in the Latin America and the Caribbean region.
In Nicaragua, IHG currently owns the Real InterContinental Hotel Metrocentro Managua, Crowne Plaza Hotel Managua and Holiday Inn Hotel Managua.
In Honduras, the IHG branded hotels portfolio include the Real InterContinental Hotel Tegucigalpa, the Real InterContinental Hotel San Pedro Sula, the Crowne Plaza Hotel San Pedro Sula and the Holiday Inn Express Hotel San Pedro Sula.
IGH Latin America and Caribbean COO Alvaro Diago said bringing more hotel rooms to these vibrant cities would promote tourism, business and corporate growth.

The two hotels also mark the Grupo AGRISAL’s first properties in Nicaragua and Honduras, making it the owner of a total of six properties in Central America.
The other properties owned by Grupo AGRISAL include the Crowne Plaza Hotel San Salvador, Holiday Inn Hotel San Salvador, Holiday Inn Hotel San José Escazú and the Holiday Inn Express Hotel Panama City- Financial District, which is due to open later this year.
