Interstate to manage hotel in China

Interstate China has executed an agreement to manage the Shanghai JC Mandarin Hotel, effective 1 February 2012.

The 514-room Shanghai JC Mandarin Hotel is owned by Shanghai Jin Cang Mandarin Hotel.

Interstate CEO Jim Abrahamson said the company’s international growth strategy continues to accelerate in China with the addition of the JC Mandarin Hotel to its portfolio.

The company was also recently named as the manager of the J Hotel located in Shanghai Tower, which is scheduled to open in 2014.

"China’s hotel industry has tremendous growth potential ahead, and we intend to play an important role in its expansion," said Abrahamson. "We currently have eight hotel management agreements covering over 3,100 rooms, and have the infrastructure in place to accommodate rapid growth."

The Shanghai JC Mandarin Hotel features one of the city’s largest ballrooms, in addition to the Wine Bar & Grille Restaurant, a fitness centre and a wellness spa.

Interstate Hotels & Resorts China (Interstate China) is a joint venture between Interstate and Chinese hotel operator and developer Jin Jiang Hotels.

The US-based global hotel management company Interstate Hotels & Resorts is a wholly-owned subsidiary of a 50/50 joint venture between subsidiaries of Thayer Lodging and Jin Jiang.
