Dubai-based Jumeirah Group has signed a management agreement with Demsa Group in Turkey to manage Istanbul’s Pera Palace Hotel.
The group will assume management of the museum hotel from 1 May 2012, which will be known as Pera Palace Hotel, Jumeirah.
Originally opened in 1892, the 115-room Pera Palace Hotel has 16 suites and underwent a major refurbishment in 2010.
In late 2011, usage rights of the Pera Palace Hotel were transferred to Demsa Group, which has now selected Jumeirah Group to operate the property.
The hotel has a 380m² spa, four function rooms, a bar and a restaurant called Agatha, which serves French, Italian and Turkish specialities.
Pera Palace Hotel, Jumeirah is the second management agreement announced by the hotel group in 2012, after Jumeirah Bali.
The addition will take the total number of hotels, resorts and residences operated by Jumeirah globally to 19.
The group will have more than doubled the number of hotels it manages and almost quadrupled the number of countries in which it operates, from the start of 2011 to the end of 2012.
Jumeirah hopes to open Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa in Mallorca, Spain; Jumeirah Bilgah Beach Hotel in Baku, Azerbaijan; Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel and Spa, Kuwait; and Jumeirah Creekside in Dubai, UAE, in the next six months.
