LTD Hospitality Group’s development division has concluded renovation works on the Courtyard by Marriott Downtown Norfolk in Virginia, US.

The 140-room property, owned by LTD Associates, now has a new Refreshing Business lobby concept, intended to give travellers opportunities to work and socialise, in addition to renovated guest rooms, meeting rooms, corridors, a fitness centre and a pool.

LTD Hospitality Group vice president of purchasing Bharat Shah said the development division provided various services for the renovation, such as purchasing, storing, staging, vendor management and installation.

"The entire renovation was a custom project, and was completed under budget without interrupting day to day operations of the Courtyard during a time frame in which the Courtyard ran an approximate 70% occupancy level," added Shah.

The new Courtyard hotel lobby now features contrasting colours, including blue, green, orange and red, with the traditional front desk being replaced with separate welcome pedestals to enable more personal and private interactions when guests check in.

In addition, the new lobby incorporates GoBoard technology, a 52in LCD touch screen presenting local information, maps, weather, and news, business and sports headlines.

By using the touch screen, guests can navigate to find restaurants, local attractions and directions, and can connect to free WiFi, said LTD.

The dining section has been given a makeover and now offers healthier menu options for breakfast under the umbrella of The Bistro.

The hotel is located close to Norfolk’s financial hub and major tourist attractions including MacArthur Memorial and MacArthur Center Mall, among others. It is also in close proximity to many major businesses and government agencies, the company said.
