Starwood Hotels & Resorts has announced the launch of its Aloft brand in Orlando, Florida, with the opening of Aloft Orlando Downtown, its third adaptive re-use hotel.

The new hotel, situated adjacent to Orlando City Hall, is owned by GDC Properties, and operated by Yedla Management, reports hotel-online.com.

Aloft Orlando Downtown features 118 rooms and 7,000ft² of meeting space, and offers a prime location in the downtown business district.

The re-use hotel also includes a re:fuel grab-and-go area, a re:charge fitness facility, w xyz bar, splash outdoor pool and valet parking.

Aloft Orlando Downtown is fitted with LED lighting and also includes features such as terrazzo flooring, marble walls and teak wood panelling.

"For the Gen Y-minded Aloft guest, who brings a real appreciation of what’s next in design and tech, a downtown Orlando location makes an ideal home base for exploring this bustling city."

The hotel is 13 miles from Orlando International Airport (MCO), 12 miles from Orange County Convention Center, and is near to Orlando attractions such as Walt Disney World Orlando, Universal Studios Orlando, SeaWorld Orlando, and Kennedy Space Center.

Starwood Specialty Select Brands senior vice president Brian McGuinness said the group is excited to introduce the Aloft brand to Orlando, which was visited by a record 57 million tourists last year.

"For the Gen Y-minded Aloft guest, who brings a real appreciation of what’s next in design and tech, a downtown Orlando location makes an ideal home base for exploring this bustling city," McGuinness added.

The group has previously opened two other adaptive re-use projects, Aloft Tulsa Downtown and Aloft Dallas Downtown.

Aloft is planning to open two more adaptive re-use projects in 2014 – Aloft Detroit Downtown and Aloft Tampa Downtown.
