Malaysia-based hotel chain Tune Hotels has announced the opening of its first property in Manila, Philippines.
The 167-room Tune Hotel Ermita, located in central Manila, is the company’s third hotel in the Philippines.
The hotel comprises 117 double, 48 twin sharing and two wheelchair-friendly rooms.
Tune Hotels Group CEO Mark Lankester said with three more Tune Hotels coming up this year and in 2013, Manila will be an important growth centre for the company’s regional expansion.
"With the rise of budget travel packages from airlines and increase in business travels, there’s a high demand for no-fuss hotels that would provide affordable, safe, clean, convenient and comfortable accommodations and that’s precisely what Tune Hotels is all about," Lankester said.
Last month, the hotel chain opened Tune Hotel Angeles City in Pampanga, which serves as an airport hotel for the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport in Clark, and Tune Hotel Cebu on the resort island of Cebu.
Tune Hotels plans to further expand its operations in the Philippines with hotels in Makati, Ortigas and Quezon City in Manila, along with Cagayan de Oro, Mindanao within this year and 2013.
The proposed hotels are part of the company’s expansion plan with its Bangkok-based partner Red Planet Hotels, which also includes locations in Thailand and Indonesia.
