Malaysian hotel chain Tune Hotels is all set to open seven properties in the Philippines by the first half of 2014, in addition to three hotels already opened in the country earlier in 2012.
The new hotels in the pipeline include one in Manila’s Makati Central Business District (CBD), which is slated for opening in July 2012.
Three more hotels are planned for opening in Manila, one each in Davao and Cagayan de Oro in the south, and another property in Iloilo in the Visayas.
Red Planet Hotels Philippines country head Ann Olalo said the expansion was being stimulated by the increasing demand for budget accommodation options, ttgasia.com reported.
Tune Hotels are priced as economy hotels but feature five-star beds, pressure showers and accessible locations.
"In fact, we have corporate accounts targeted at middle management," Olalo added.
The hotel chain initially opened its three hotels in Ermita (Manila), Clark and Cebu, which have 40% walk-in guests, while nearly 60% of them make online bookings through the company’s website and Agoda.com.
Recently, Tune Hotels announced plans to launch its inaugural Bangkok property Tune Hotel Asoke on 1 October 2012, following the opening of Thailand’s first two Tune Hotels in Hat Yai in December 2011 and Pattaya in February 2012.
Tune Hotel Asoke, the hotels chain’s third property in Thailand, will offer 130 rooms consisting of double, twin-sharing and disabled-friendly rooms, after which there are plans by the hotel operator to open another property on Patong Beach in Phuket by the end of 2012.
