Hotel occupancy rose by 4.5% to 70.9% in Hawaii, US, during October 2010 compared with the same period in 2009, according to a new Hospitality Advisors report.
However, the state’s average daily room rate fell to $163.52, a 0.7% decrease from October 2009.
Hotels in the city of Waikiki posted the highest occupancy rate at 80% with an average daily room rate of $148.59, $2 lower than a year ago.
The occupancy rate for all Oahu hotels was 78.2% in October and its average room rate was $148, a 1.2% decline from last year.
Big Island hotels experienced the lowest occupancy rates at 57.6%, but its average room rate rose 5.8% to $171.65.
Maui’s occupancy rate rose 11% to 67.1% and its average daily room rate was the highest in the state at $194.24.
The occupancy rate of Kauai was 61.2%, but its average room rate fell by 5% to $172.07, according to businessweek.com.
