Accor has bought the Fairmont Resort in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, Australia, and plans to open the hotel under its MGallery brand in April 2011.

The French hotel group is carrying out a $20m renovation at the hotel ahead of the rebranding.

The renovation will add a children’s club, an indoor merry-go-round, upgraded day spa facilities, a bar, dining options and upgraded suites for special occasions.

Built in 1988 on a 10ha ground overlooking Jamison Valley, the property features 210 deluxe rooms, 12 conference rooms, two restaurants, a lounge bar, indoor and outdoor pools, a theatre and spa treatment facilities.

The property also has three lakes, tennis courts, a squash court, a gym, a health and beauty centre and an 18 hole golf course.
