Hilton has unveiled its new brand Home2 Suites in a bid to venture into the mid-tier extended stay market.
The proposed hotels will be located near universities, hospitals, military bases and commercial centres.
Hilton opened its first Home2 Suites property in Fayetteville, US.
The 119-room, four-storey hotel, which will feature large lobbies, a breakfast area, a swimming pool and a patio with a grill and seating area, will be owned by Apple Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT).
The hotel group plans to add 56 Home2 Suites properties to its portfolio and has another 30 in development.
Six properties that are under construction and scheduled to open in 2011 or early 2012 include San Antonio, Baltimore, Lexington Park, Jacksonville and two locations in Salt Lake City.
Hilton will also open Home2 Suites properties in Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Washington, DC and Denver.
Home2 Suites expects to open its 100th property in 2014 and is approved for expansion in Canada and Mexico.
