Angsana Hotels & Resorts, a division of Singapore-based Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts, is to manage the Sheraton Grande Phuket hotel on Bang Tao Beach, Thailand.

The hotel has been operating under the Sheraton flag of Starwood Hotels & Resorts since 1992 under an operations agreement between Starwood and hotel owner Laguna Resorts & Hotels.

Following the transfer of operation, the 419-room hotel will close from July 2011 to undergo a THB500m ($16m) renovation, which includes all rooms and public areas.

The renovated hotel will reopen as the Angsana Laguna Phuket on 1 December 2011.
