Marriott International reported a profit of $173m during the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2010, an increase on the $106m for the corresponding quarter in 2009.
The US-based hotel group recorded a revenue of $3.6bn during Q4 2010 compared with $3.4bn for the same period in 2009.
For the full year 2010, Marriott’s profit was $458m, compared with a loss of $346m for the previous year, while its revenue rose to $11.7bn from $10.9bn in 2009.
By the end of 2010, Marriott’s pipeline of hotels under construction, awaiting conversion or approval for development totalled 105,000 rooms, including 45,000 rooms located outside North America.
The pipeline includes AC Hotels by Marriott, a new brand of over 9,000 rooms, which will launch in 2011.
