Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide marked its plan to double its India portfolio with the announcement of its 50th hotel in the country.
Starwood’s first W hotel in India, W Mumbai, will open in 2015 under the management of Jaguar Buildcon. W Mumbai will be part of the Namaste Tower, a 55-storey, mixed-use building.
The hotel group will open seven properties in India during 2011, increasing its portfolio to 37 by the end of the year.
Hotels to open this year include Le Meridien Coimbatore and the Sheraton Bangalore Hotel at Brigade Gateway.
Starwood plans to have 100 properties operating in India by 2015.
