Hospitality and travel company Carlson is planning to expand its Country Inns & Suites portfolio in India to at least 50 hotels over the next 10 years.

The chain currently has 11 hotels in operation; Carlson is planning to open five new hotels in 2011.

The new hotels due to open this year include a 37-room hotel in Delhi, a 50-room hotel in Mussoorie, a 190-room hotel in Gurgaon, a 71-room hotel in Ajmer, and a 130-room hotel in Mysore.

The Indian expansion will be managed through Country Development and Management Services, a joint venture between Carlson and Chanakya Hotels Private Limited.
