The Hyatt Regency New Orleans, which has been closed since Hurricane Katrina in 2005, is to reopen on 19 October 2011 following a $275m redesign and renovation.
The project covers upgrading the 1,193-room property’s lobby, restaurants, meeting spaces and suites, including 95 standard suites, five meeting planner suites and four presidential suites.
After the renovation, the 32-storey hotel will feature 18,581m² of event space including two 2,322m² ballrooms, 64 meeting and banquet rooms, 21 executive-level meeting rooms, seven permanent boardrooms, and 7,432m² of exhibition space including a new 4,646m² exhibit hall.
The property will also include a 360-seat restaurant, a 210-seat media / action bar with private and semi-private lounges, a 70-seat atrium bar and a 300-seat speciality restaurant.
Hyatt Regency New Orleans is owned by Poydras Properties Hotel Holdings, a hospitality venture that includes AREA Property Partners, Poydras Hotel Members and a subsidiary of Hyatt Hotels Corporation.
