The Westin Alexandria Hotel has selected energy management technology provider Telkonet’s EcoSmart Suite energy management platform for its 341 luxury rooms and seven luxury suites.
The EcoSmart Suite, which will control water source heat pumps, complements the green initiatives already in place at the hotel.
The EcoSmart products will be networked using a wireless communications infrastructure consisting of EcoWave thermostats and EcoView occupancy sensors that detect occupancy with high sensitivity motion and heat sensors.
Telkonet estimates that energy consumption at the hotel will drop by 34% and proactive troubleshooting of heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment and reduced running times will translate into additional savings from extended equipment life.
Energy use will be reduced by automatically adjusting the heating and air conditioning systems when rooms are unoccupied.
