Canadian company CheckinWiz has announced a new tool that will allow hotel guests to check in via a PDA or BlackBerry.

The web-based service allows pre-booked guests to confirm their arrival time while en route, so guest preferences, special requests, room and keys can be prepared in advance.

CheckinWiz says the system improves guest service, front desk efficiency, reducing check-in times.

Hotels are also able to send marketing messages, daily special and service information directly to the customer.

The system is currently on trial in several hotels in Ottawa and is expected to be launched in 2008.
