Online travel website TripAdvisor has listed its top ten converted hotels in Europe for travellers that like a bit of a twist to their accommodation.

The hotels have been judged by their ability to keep the same structure and spirit of the original design while adding a touch of class with modern amenities and fittings.

The Hotel Im Wasserturm in Cologne, Germany — once the largest water tower in Europe – was voted number one.

K+K Hotel Central in Prague—a historic Art Nouveau building, Chateau de Trigance – a former medieval fortress in France, The Lighthouse – which of course was a lighthouse – in North Wales and converted bank, the Old Bank Hotel in Oxford, England, were also mentioned on the list.
