Monaco’s Hotel Monte-Carlo has been named the Best Hotel in Europe with 100 rooms or more.

The announcement was made at the Leading Hotels of the World convention in Monte Carlo, where a further 11 hotels were awarded.

Hotel Monte-Carlo had to undergo one of the most rigorous series of inspections in the industry, covering 1,500 areas including the quality of accommodation and facilities to dining services.

Hotel Monte-Carlo, which dates back to 1886, recently underwent a complete refurbishment and reopened in July.

The hotel has attracted the likes of Claudia Schiffer and Sting and, according to its website, is known as one of the “hottest” places in Monaco.

In total, 450 hotels and resorts are part of the Leading Hotels of the World network.
