A Sydney hotel room with harbour views has been booked for New Year’s Eve for a staggering A$10,000.
The room was sold through accommodation website lastminutue.com.au’s Secret Hotel function, where luxury hotels offer rooms at such low rates they will not reveal their identity until the booking is complete.
Lastminute CEO Chris Meehan says the five-star hotel listed the room at a rate it knew someone would be willing to pay, according to local media reports.
“Our Secret Hotels are normally the cheapest rooms on the market. But in this case, has set the record for the highest price ever,” he says.
The room rate includes French champagne, dinner for two and a prime position for the New Year’s fireworks celebration over the harbour.
