The Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), UAE, will begin the implementation of a new hotel classification system from next year.

All hotels and hotel apartments will be categorised on a scale of one to five stars while hotel apartments will be ranked either deluxe, superior or standard.

The ADTA will begin the review process of the Emirate’s 49 hotels and 49 hotel apartment facilities in August this year.

The ADTA will also include five value-added categories environmental issues, special needs, comprehensive detailed standards, consideration for cultural tourism sustainability and implementation planning.

All hotels need to earn a pre-determined score on a scale of one to 900 to qualify for a particular classification rating, according to arabianbusiness.com.
