Hotel occupancy in the Caribbean increased by 7% in the first quarter of 2010, driven by an increase in visitor numbers.

The average daily room rates also increased by over 7% in the island nation, according to figures by the Caribbean Tourism Organization.

Dutch Caribbean territories showed a marginal rise in arrivals driven mostly by visitors to St Maarten and Aruba.
