Low cost hotel chain Tune Hotels has announced it will celebrate the opening of its new hotel in London with rooms costing from one penny.

The chain says that London hotel room prices will average £35 ($51) per night but promotional rooms will be available from £9 ($13).

The hotel brand operates eight hotels in Malaysia and Indonesia, and the new property will be the brand’s first expansion outside Asia.

The company plans to operate 100 hotels by 2015 including a further 15 London establishments, according to independent.co.uk.

From 29 June, over 1,000 rooms will be available for one penny on certain days over the next two months.

Tune Hotels is the low-cost hotel chain of budget airline AirAsia.
