Choice Hotels International and franchisee Atlanta Underground have unveiled plans to open a new Comfort Suites hotel in Atlanta, Georgia, US.
The hotel will be co-owned by management company Excel Hotel Group and restoration and renovation company S&A Industries.
The first five floors of the 156-suite hotel were built over 100 years ago. It has an additional 11 floors and will be the first adaptive re-use project for the Comfort Suites brand.
The multi-million dollar restoration and renovations process on the project could begin this month and calls for a complete overhaul of furniture, fixtures and equipment.
The hotel also plans to add a lounge area, meeting facilities, a business centre, a fitness centre and guest laundry facilities.
The property is expected to re-open in December 2010.
