Russia-based Orbital Technologies has unveiled a plan to build a space hotel, which could be in orbit by 2016.

The first module will feature four cabins measuring 20m³, which can accommodate up to seven guests.

The guests will be taken to the guesthouse on a Soyuz shuttle.

The hotel will follow the same orbit as the International Space Station and will feature large portholes through which it will be possible to look at Earth.

The company has signed partnership agreements with Energia and the Russian Federal Space Agency Roscosmos for the project.

Russia’s state-controlled spacecraft manufacturer Energia is the project’s general contractor.

The project will be funded by Russian and American investors, according to RIA Novosti news agency.
