Canadian-based Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has unveiled plans to align its properties across the globe so they can become members of the Green Key Eco-rating programme.
The initiative is part of the hotel brand’s 20-year commitment to environmental stewardship, sustainability and responsible tourism.
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts President Chris Cahill said: “This rating system is a great way for our hotels to audit, benchmark and even further reduce their environmental footprint.”
Green Key was developed by an environmental engineering firm with support from the Canadian Government.
