The Hotel Bel-Air in Los Angeles, US, will reopen in July 2011 following 22 months of extensive renovation and redesign.

The hotel part of the Dorchester Collection hotels will be renovated by Alexandra Champalimaud and Rockwell Group.

The redesign includes a new reception and boutique, new lobby lounge, 103 guestrooms, suites and bathrooms, 12 new hill-side accommodations, a spa, three guest lofts and a fitness centre.

Rockwell Group is restoring public spaces including the hotel bar, restaurant and terrace, the 228-seat grand ballroom, executive boardroom and public washrooms.

A more efficient power plant has been installed to lower energy use throughout the property while water consumption will be reduced using indoor conservation technologies.

Jonny Appleseed Landscaping is working on the hotel’s 12 acre landscape.
